Can I share my affiliate links on medium?
Affiliate links can be shared on medium but there are terms and conditions guiding this feature
Before we go about how we can share our affiliate links on medium, let us quickly know what affiliate link is.
What is an affiliate link?
An affiliate link is a derived URL given by a vendor to an affiliate with the intention of promoting the vendors product.
How do we go about sharing our affiliate links on medium?
I did some research on how we can go about sharing affiliate links on medium because medium has set up some terms and conditions on sharing your affiliate links.
The research I made was done to make everybody know the truth without anybody left in the dark. while checking the web for results, I saw three different results but they were all saying the same thing. So let us quickly look at those three results and analyse them when we are done.
The first result
On this first result, this blogger said;
Medium does not ban content with affiliate links........ "You must disclose affiliate links or payment for a post. Affiliate links, such as link out to Amazon with your code, or any other link out where you will receive a commission or other value, are allowed in posts.
The second result
The second result also says something similar to the first result. Here's what this blogger said
I would suggest reading medium rules and make sure you understand and follow them.
Medium allows affiliate link usage, but you have to disclose them in the post by saying "some external links in the post are affiliate" or you can specify which links are affiliate by saying "the link above or below is an affiliate"
The third result
The third result is also similar to the first two. Here's what this blogger said;
You must disclose somewhere in the post that it includes affiliate links. If you have received payment, goods, or services or something else of value in exchange writing a post you must disclose this fact in writing within your post.
The three results are all saying the same thing. With all these research, I discovered that you can share your affiliate links but you have to disclose it to your audience or readers that the link which is in your blog is an affiliate link and howeover, if it is also a sponsored post, you must also declare it that you have received a commission in one way or the other for the Post you are writing.
How can I make it on medium
MaKing it on medium is not so difficult as you think. What you need to do is at your finger tips, but it can only be done when you add your maximum effort to it.
One thing you need to consider is consistency. Being consistent as a writer is one effective way you can make it on medium.
When you keep writing more contents on medium, you'll surely get more views. But if you are not consistent with your writings, you'll get views but they won't be as when you are consistent.
Another thing you need to consider so as to make it on medium is professionalism. You need to write like a professional when writing on medium because medium will not want to distribute contents that are full of grammatical errors or things that does not even match your heading.
When you are professional, you'll even get followers who would be willing to read more of your upcoming contents because they've found value in your writing. So try as much as possible to be professional in your writing.
What you also need to consider to make it on medium is that you have to be truthful about what you write.
Medium will limit the distribution of your contents when they find out that your content is not truthful or they find out that you are trying to hide the truth about a topic to your audience.
Medium sees these things as illegal and can restrict your account for this if they find out you are always repeating the same thing.
Of all things you need to consider, be mindful of medium's rules and guidelines.
Medium are strict with their guidelines and can punish you for violating them by restricting your medium account, limited distribution of your content and so on.
Why is medium strict with policies of placing affiliate links?
As we discussed above, you can place links but you have to state the purpose of the link.
You need to state somewhere in your writing that this content contains affiliate links.
The reason why medium wants it like that is because they want your content to be transparent without leaving anything in the dark to your audience.
You don't have to hide anything, make your medium contents transparent and professional and you'll see the difference you've always been looking for.
