Is PayPal now in Nigeria?

 It is often asked by many Nigerians if paypal is available in Nigeria. So let us know if paypal is in Nigeria.

The global world has changed and so the way we make money now has changed due to the numerous ways of making money online. But for some Nigerians, they are frustrated due to the fact that even if they are able to engage in any of these online money making, their chances of getting the funds from their PayPal account to their bank account might be difficult and tedious. Though PayPal is now in Nigeria, Nigerians are still facing some challenges with their funds on PayPal. 

PayPal is a major way of receiving online money or funds. In Nigeria, paypal has made restrictions on Nigerian PayPal accounts. Paypal wasn't available in Nigeria before, but as time went on, paypal was brought to Nigeria with some restrictions. 

Paypal gave Nigerians two options/choices of account they can open with their different purposes. They are;

A PayPal personal account is an account created for only making payments or purchasing things online Where they have the options to pay online for product or services with paypal.

PayPal personal account in Nigeria allows you to link a card to your account so that you can be able to use it to make purchases for things you buy online with PayPal and you are also able to send money from your credit card to another PayPal account by just typing the email and sending it to the Paypal account.

A PayPal personal account is good but it is not really needed by most Nigerians as they are looking for a PayPal account that can receive funds.

A site like warrior plus only receives payment through PayPal and this is where your PayPal personal account becomes useful. Warrior plus will only accept payment through your PayPal account and since you have a paypal personal account, what you'll do is to purchase the product from warrior plus with the credit card you linked to your PayPal account.

There was a time I used a site that pays money to their users PayPal account to send money to my Paypal personal account. The site sent the money and told me there was a problem sending the money and the money was deducted from my earnings and never refunded. This really Pained me, but it was all my fault.

The reason why the money could not get to my Paypal account was because it was a personal account, and personal accounts in Nigeria are not allowed to receive funds.

2. Merchant account

A PayPal merchant account in Nigeria is allowed to receive funds. In Nigeria, individuals are not allowed to receive PayPal funds but only registered businesses can receive PayPal funds but to start, you will have to verify your business account with some valid information like your driver's licence, government issued card and so on.

Verifying your merchant account is not something that is difficult as long as you are the owner of the business and you have what it takes to verify your business by putting your legal details. You can also send and receive funds on merchant account.

Paypal in Nigeria is very strict, even upon opening a merchant account you will still have to prove to them you are truly the owner of that business when they notice you are getting funds beyond the limits given to you. 

However, note that PayPal personal account is for online payment and the merchant account is for receiving and sending funds.

A Nigerian PayPal merchant account is very useful in the sense that you can receive payments from anywhere to your account as far as it a merchant account.

Freelancers and many online money makers use their Nigerian PayPal merchant account to receive funds and they device many methods to get those funds to their bank account because PayPal did not allow Nigerian PayPal merchant account do wire transfers to their bank from their PayPal accounts.

PayPal is used worldwide both abroad and in Nigeria by legit online money makers. Almost every site that pays always have the option of PayPal as a method of sending payments to their users.

PayPal is a payment gateway that allows flexible transactions when dealing with money. However, many of the ways we can utilize PayPal is restricted in Nigeria, but some Nigerians who have foreign paypal account have testified to the flexibility in which PayPal handles transactions.

If you don't feel satisfied with the Nigerian PayPal, you can go as far as Dubai to open a foreign paypal account so that you can have full access to the features of PayPal. Many Nigerians are already doing this and you can also try this too. But make sure to have a valid and legal document from Dubai so as to use for your foreign paypal so that you would not have limit on the funds you can receive on your PayPal account.

In the foreign paypal, there are several features like trading and buying crypto currency, shopping online, wire transfer, linking your bank account, and many more which are not allowed in Nigerian PayPal though, Nigerian PayPal accounts are allowed to shop online.

Though PayPal is allowed and active in Nigeria, like I said above, there are some certain things that Nigerian PayPal account are restricted from doing. 

However, how I wish PayPal can make those features that are restricted on Nigerian PayPal account work, it would be good and it will encourage more people to love working and earning online.
