Can I place ads on my medium contents?

 

Medium is a great platform for both writers and readers to share ideas and thoughts on several subjects. 

So as a medium content writer, I know you wish to know if you can place ads on your medium content.

The answer is no, because medium has some strict policies which you might need to follow and if their policies are violated, it could lead to restriction of your account, limited distribution of your contents and so many more consequences.

You don't really have to place ads on your medium content because medium has set some things in place to help you make money even without advertisements on your contents.

Medium pays per views but don't be mistaken, they don't pay for impressions because there is nothing like an advert on your content. 

Anytime a paid member views your content, you get paid. That is, anytime a member (who has paid to be a full member of medium) reads your write up, a fraction of the money paid by the member is given to you as your earnings. 

The money given to you from the member might be little but as time goes on and as you get more views by paid members on your contents, your earnings will quickly add up to a big amount.

Your content can also be seen on Google by other people who are not even medium members. So this means your write ups are not restricted to only the medium app or site but can be seen worldwide on search engines like Google.

Medium is trying to make their site an ad free place so that their readers can enjoy their reading and this is why they are strict in their policy which states that you cannot place ads on your medium contents.

However, what you need is to write quality contents in your medium account so as to get more views. Apart from writing quality contents, you have to be truthful about whatever you write down in your medium account. 

From your photos to your uploaded videos and even the links you place on your content, you have to state the source of the link, photo or video that you place on your medium contents.

If you place an affiliate link, you must say it is an affiliate link. If it is a YouTube video or any video, state the source of that particular video and if it is a photo, make sure to say the source of the photo beneath the photo.

If you are truthful about what you write down in your medium content without leaving anything in the dark, then your content would be distributed by medium effectively to a large audience because they are satisfied with your write-up and they are now sure you are saying the truth without leaving anything in the dark.

Do not try to outsmart medium as they are strict with their policies. Your medium account could be forfeited or restricted if you violate their policies, so try as much to read their policies so that you can be on the safer side to avoid restrictions on your medium account.
